Help and troubleshooting

Most problems are one of the five below. If yours isn't, ask on Discord and attach your log file (see the last section).

The phone can't reach the PC

The certificate step

Phone browsers only allow the camera on secure links, so the setup page installs a small certificate that makes your phone trust your own PC. It's done once per phone.

Nothing moves in the game

  1. Start SimTrack before the game.
  2. In the SimTrack window, press TEST MOTION. The view should sweep left, right, up, down and tilt. If the reticle moves but the game doesn't, the game isn't reading head tracking yet.
  3. Turn on head tracking, TrackIR or FreeTrack in the game's settings. Some games call it "head tracking", others list it under controls or camera.
  4. When a game connects, the SimTrack window shows Game connected. If it never does, restart the game with SimTrack already running.

The view moves the wrong way or too little

It feels laggy or shaky

Updating SimTrack

When a new version is out, the SimTrack window shows an orange bar at the top. Download the new zip from the link in your purchase email, close SimTrack, and replace the old folder with the new one. Your settings and the phone certificate are kept, so there's nothing to set up again.

SimTrack asks this website once at startup which version is current. That request carries no information about you. To turn it off, add "check_updates": false to config.json.

Sending your log file

In the SimTrack window, click Open log folder at the bottom. Attach simtrack.log to your Discord post or email. It contains startup messages and errors, never camera images.
